How to gain 5 extra hours per week?

In this blog I will be sharing with you one incredible tool on how to gain 5 extra hours per week, a tool which transformed my life. This year I did the following: set up a business, write blogs, carry out workshops, work in my day job, complete a Masters, wrote and published a book and moved in with my wife and had an incredible first year of marriage. Now I’m not telling you all this to brag, I’m telling you all this because I was able to do all of this because of this incredible tool.

“I’m too busy”. “I don’t have enough time”. “There’s not enough hours in the day”.

I used to be one of those people who used statements like this as an excuse. An excuse to not overcome challenges and attain my goals. Until I read a books by Robert G. Allen. In the book there was a section of the book where the message was along the lines of ‘limiting or eliminating the time spent of things that are bad for you’.

Fed up of not knowing what to do? That stops now. I lay out all the behaviours you need to become a leader in my book. Click here to purchase it (for the price of a cocktail).

It was then I thought to myself, what I am I doing everyday which is bad for me? What is not creating a positive impact in my life? I then started to list out everything I was doing in my life at the time into 30 minute slots, including travel, shopping, conversations, behaviours, recreational activities and going out; literally everything. Suddenly, I had a moment of realisation… I couldn’t fill out my day! I had no idea what I was doing. I was just cruising through the days with no real understanding of what I’m doing or where I’m going.

So, after I overcame the confusion, I started to track what I was doing in detail, then completed the list. I then scored myself on whether the activity/ interaction/ action had a positive impact in my life or not on a scale of 1 to 5. For example, date night = 5 (positive), gossiping at work = 1 (negative) or self-investment = 5 (positive).

Once I did this I identified everything in my life which was not having a positive impact on my life and deciding to be ruthless. I either eliminated or limited it. This had a huge impact on my life. Suddenly, I had gain an extra 5 hours per week, giving me time back!

So here’s the tool for you. I want you to get a piece of paper and list everything you do in a day, down to the detail. If you don’t know, start tracking. Once you’ve completed your list, score your activities/ interactions/ actions, identify which ones are negative for you and delete them from your life or limit the amount of time you spend on them. For example, if you have a negative family member, you can’t just delete them, but you can limit the time you spend with them. So instead of everyday, see them once a month.

Deletion is just one part of the process to gaining extra time but I believe is the starting point because it is has the most impact. So here’s the challenge! Do you want to gain extra time in your week? Then carry out the tool and delete negative things from your life!

I know these tools can help make a difference. I would love for your support in helping others by sharing this blog! Help make a difference in peoples lives!
